To Azuki with love, from Japan

I just love receiving the sweetest things via snail mail. Don’t you? :)

Yesterday, I received an awesome surprise from my friend Marjorie. She’s based in Japan. I met her in the community Weddings at Work (W@W) while we were both preparing our respective weddings, and I think it’s wonderful that we’ve grown to be good friends.

Well, OK… It may not have been a surprise, since Marjorie had to ask B about our new home address, but I had no idea what she’d be sending over!

Inside the tattered envelope was this card. I still have to get used to the idea that Poppy+B now equals three!

The card even came with its own subtitles! Haha! Thanks for the translation, Marjorie :)

The card also came with this yummy outfit for Azuki:

B and I can’t wait for Azuki to grow, so she could start wearing this! Isn’t it adorable?

Yes, I do agree Azuki would discover what a great place this world is :)

Thanks again, Atsushi, Marjorie and Yui! Yui, we do hope we get to meet you in person real soon :) Azuki would very much like to thank you in person. You made her so happy!

Happy mid-week, everyone!

Getting back on track

Hello there, dear friends!

Hope your holidays went well :) I was on an extended vacation from this site, but for good reason!

You see, sometime early December, I was finding myself unexplainably tired and irritable (especially to B! Poor fella). Apart from falling asleep during the day, I was feeling unproductive and that was depressing me even more.

After a couple of weeks asking and discussing “What ifs” and “Are we ready for this?” with each other, B and I finally decide it was high time to take the test. And so, one quiet December morning, B and I find out that we’re about to have a baby. :)

(Oh how we cried, for what a blessing our little bean is!)

Apparently, it’s true what they say — that (most) expecting mothers do experience an energy boost once the second trimester rolls in. These last few months haven’t been as horrible for me as other mom-friends have shared, but they haven’t been a picnic for me either. While I still succumb to naps and hormone-related breakdowns, this month feels decidedly different… Then again, this year will definitely be different.

So while I may be a month late, I’d like to say thank you, for accompanying me and B in our wonderful journey last year.

Here’s to you, and to your hopes and dreams this 2012.

I’m back, and I’ve missed you all :)

My first (lovely) package exchange – the making

This post is all about making my first ever {lovely} package exchange, hosted by one of my favorite bloggers, Oh, hello friend.

For the package itself, I started with a fairly sturdy moon cake box with a magnetized enclosure, then covered it with sticker paper (printed with various patterns that I found on the net).

Given April’s (Designs of Artisan) interests, I picked out the following items for her:

  1. Funky necklaces from Junk Studio
  2. Envelope template and masking tapes from Muji
  3. Handmade notebooks and button magnets from Free Verse Paperie
  4. Sticky notes from Dear Sadie
  5. Fabric tape, printed tape, and book plates from Fully Booked

Once I made sure everything was secure (I hope the items do withstand shipping!), I added some embellishments and called it a day!

I had so much fun putting together this gift! Hope you like it, April!

Until soon, everyone!

Ho, ho, ho! Back with holiday cheer!

Hi, everyone!

I’m back! How are you? I’ve missed you! Big, big hugs to you!

B and I were busy closing our respective projects at work, and much of our time too was taken up with shuttling to and fro our temporary house and our parents’ homes (as our new home still isn’t available, and it was supposed to be available last AUGUST!). It’s a real chore and very frustrating that we haven’t settled in, but these past months have shown me how B’s an immensely patient guy, so I find it hard to complain.

So while we’re waiting to move in to our new home, B and I have been trying to find ways to bring the holiday spirit in our temporary (and extremely bare) living space.

OK, I'm a bit embarrassed about the plastic wrapping around the wreath (and mismatched table cloth), but I didn't want to take the wreath's cover off until it was hung in our REAL home :)

We’ve also been busy picking out and packing our presents for our family and friends, and somewhere in between, I’ve also made and sent a little card for someone whom I’ve met while planning my wedding over at W@W!

Our Christmas Card for Marjorie (and her hubby, Atsushi)

Dearest Marjorie of On Chocolate Hill, I got your note. I’m so happy you both liked the card! :)

Anyway, by now, I’m hoping my lovely package exchange buddy April of the uber-talented Designs Of Artisan has received my gift!

April, I hope you like what you get :) And to you my friends, I’ll let you all know what I sent her in my next post.

Happy December, my dearest buds :) Will be back soon :)

Awesome bridal gift: The New Intercourses

Hello dear!

How’ve you been? What have you been up to?

Three more weeks until our big day! Gaah! I’m not sure about B, but I’m slowly getting stressed! I’m losing sleep, I’m often distracted  and quite forgetful lately, I’m more irritable, and pimples now upset me! :( All because of the pressures of one day! Yikes!

But something did come in earlier today to get me excited again! A gift from an old friend of mine (how old? we’ve known each other since pre-school!), Cla. She’s based in the States and won’t be able to come to our wedding, but ever the gracious friend, she sent over this:

The New Intercourses - an aphrodisiac cookbook

A set of delicious seduction spells in hardbound! Haha! I love it!

Who cares if aphrodisiacs really work or not? I’m looking forward to making these for B reeeaaal soon :) Thanks again, Cla! (And to her sister Cha for the deluxe delivery!)

And to keep my mood up – I’m off to treat myself to some chocolate! Hehe!

Stay cool, friends! ‘Til real soon!

(Finally!) Our Prenup at Pinto Art Museum

It was raining for days. While we’ve long scheduled our prenup session at Pinto this with our photographer, Ralph Alejandrino, our stylist, Eliska, et al of Ruffles and Bells, as well as with HMUA Gio Flores, B and I were … Continue reading
